VIENNA CITY ON FIRE

Fire fighters are currently battling a large blaze at Vienna City, a night club and pub near the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra. The fire is reported to have started around 8 pm this evening.
"Occupants of the structure, however, were all able to vacate the building" during the melee, Alhassan reported.

"The worry of the owner [of the night club] is the cash in the casino. He was impressing upon the firemen to save the casino and his money," he narrated.

He said so far, he can count about four fire tenders at the scene, with fire personnel busily fighting the blaze.

An eyewitness who gave his name as Ali said the fire started from a faulty air condition which exploded.

“The fire people had problems entering with their cars hence this level of damage… I don’t think there is anything that can be salvaged except the machines at the Casino, which they are trying to protect.”

Vienna City is directly opposite the Goil filling station which was burnt down in the June 3, 2015 disaster, which claimed over 150 lives.

Vienna City Ltd is an entertainment and hospitality company whose business includes hotels, bars, casinos, restaurants and night clubs
Fire fire tenders have responded to the fire outbreak but they are so far unable to put the fire out in part due to the windy conditions in the area at the moment.

Vienna City is right opposite the epicenter of th June 3 disaster that claimed hundreds of lives but of more concern is the fact that it is right adjacent another filling station.

Reports from Citi News’ Kojo Agyeman reported that the building has been completely destroyed by fire. “Thankfully there are no casualties,” Kojo said, but there is still danger because the fire is spreading quickly because of alcohol and structure of the building.”
